One of the most sought-after interpreters for the baroque and classical repertoire, Giuseppina Bridelli was born in Piacenza. After graduating from her hometown conservatoire, specialized at Teatro Comunale di Bologna Opera Studio and at the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro. She made her debut at 21 singing the role of Despina in Così fan tutte conducted by Diego Fasolis.

Among her earliest productions are: Idomeneo (Idamante) in Bologna, Ravenna and Piacenza; Così fan tutte (Despina) in Bologna and at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Haydn’s Il mondo della luna (Ernesto) in Monte Carlo; Cavalli’s Elena (Ippolita) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, in Lille and Lisbon; Cesti’s L’Orontea (title role) and L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Ottavia / Virtù) at the Innsbruck Festival; Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (Euridice) in Bremen with L’Arpeggiata, alongside Rolando Villazon; Il viaggio a Reims (Corinna) at the Rossini Opera Festival; Luigi Rossi’s Orfeo (Aristeo) in Nancy, Versailles, Bordeaux and Caen; Le nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) at the Copenhagen Opera Festival, the San Carlo in Naples and the Malmö Opera (directed by Peter Stein).

In the past seasons she sang: Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine with Ensemble Pygmalion in an European tour; Stradella’s La Doriclea (Lucinda) with Il Pomo d’oro and De Carlo in Rome; Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (Messaggiera) on a world tour with Cappella Mediterranea and Garcia Alarcon; Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (Melanto / Humana fragilità) in Hamburg with Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi and in Cremona (Minerva) with Ottavio Dantone; Porpora’s Orfeo in Martina Franca with George Petrou; Cavalli’s L’Ercole amante (Dejanira) at the Opéra Comique in Paris with Raphaël Pichon; La Clemenza di Tito (Sesto) with Federico Maria Sardelli at the Teatro del Maggio.

In concert she performed: Dallapiccola’s Saffo and Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder in Bologna; Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Tutino’s Le Bel indifférent at the Festival della Valle d’Itria; Rota’s Mysterium with LaVerdi in Milan; Berlioz’s Le nuits d’été at the Philharmonie de Luxembourg; Donizetti’s Requiem at the Saint-Denis Festival; Bach’s Mass in B minor in Lausanne; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Kammerakademie Postdam and Antonello Manacorda and with I Pomeriggi Musicali and Nathalie Stutzmann in Milan; Haydn’s Paukenmesse for Wratislavia Cantans (conducted by Antonini) in Eisenstadt and Wroclaw; Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle on a Dutch tour with Ghislieri Choir and Giulio Prandi; Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in Grenoble and Lyon with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Francesco Corti. She has performed in recitals and concerts in Paris, Lyon, Turin, London (Wigmore Hall), Montreal and New York (Carnegie Hall) 

She has numerous recordings to her credit: Rota’s Mysterium (Decca), Vivaldi’s L’Incoronazione di Dario (Naïve), Rossi’s Orfeo (Harmonia Mundi), Scarlatti’s Passio secundum Joannem (Ricercar), Rossini’s Péchés de vieillesse (Naxos), Gasparini’s Bajazet, Porpora and Scarlatti’s Cantatas, Händel’s Aci, Galatea e Polifemo (Glossa), Stradella’s Doriclea (Arcana). Her first two solo albums were also released for Arcana: Duel: Porpora and Handel in London and Appena chiudo gli occhi (cantatas by Scarlatti and Caldara).
