Giuseppina BRIDELLI, mezzosoprano

 

Born in Piacenza in Italy, Giuseppina started studying singing at a very young age at Conservatoire in Piacenza, where she graduated under the guidance of Maria Laura Groppi. 

Winner of several singing competition like Francesco Provenzale (Napoli), Baroque singing competition in Vicenza, Concours de chant de Froville, International Vocal Competition Stanislas Moniuszko in Varsavia and the Renata Tebaldi Competition in San Marino, In 2007 Giuseppina won the As.li.co International Singing Competition and made her debut at only 21 as Despina in Così fan tutte conducted by Diego Fasolis. 

After that, she’s rapidly on demand in important opera production in Italy and Europe.

She as been Idamante, title role in Mozart’s Idomeneo with Francesco Meli, conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by David Livermore, Enrichetta in I Puritani (dir Mariotti) Lucia in La gazza ladra,  Zerlina in Don Giovanni for Teatro Comunale in Bologna; Fidalma in Il matrimonio segreto at the Stresa Festival 2010, Puritani and Carmen in Japan and in Cagliari; Flora in La traviata ( with tourney in Hong Kong), conducted by M.Mariotti and Rusalka at Teatro San Carlo in Napoli; Zaida in Il turco in Italia at Opera de Nantes Angers and in Luxembourg, Zauberflote at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Despina in Cosi fan tutte at Teatro comunale in Bologna conducted by M.Mariotti, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito in Opera de ST.Etienne.

 

In concert version she sang: Phaedra (Britten) Cinque frammenti di Saffo (L. Dalla Piccola) and the  Ruckert Lieder (Mahler) in Bologna, Das Knaben Wunderhorn (Mahler) and the Monologue Le Bel indifferent (Tutino) at Festival della Valle d'Itria in 2010. She sang for the celebration of Premio Celletti at Festival della Valle d’Itria 2014 with a Rossini program conducted by F. Luisi. The same year she has been invited by the Orchestra Sinfonica Verdi of Milano for Mysterium of Nino Rota (recording EMI) , Les Mozart de l’Opera at Théâtre des Champs Elysees in Paris, Les nuits d’ete by berlioz at Philharmonie of Luxembourg.

 

 

She already worked with conduct such as Z. Mehta, N. Santi, M. Mariotti, F.Luisi, A.Zedda, R.Abbado, J.Cura, L.Alarcon, R.Pichon, J.Jones, D.Fasolis, O.Dantone, J.Rhorer, C.Pluhart, and directors like E.Sagi, P.Stein, F.Ozpetek, A.Antoniozzi, L.Mariani, S.Vizioli, P.Pizzi, D.Livermore, C.Muti, D.Abbado, L.Podalydes. 

 

Particularly appreciated for the ancient music repertoire, she regularly works with Cappella mediterranea, L’arpeggiata, Il pomo d’oro, Accademia bizantina, La venexiana, Ensemble pygmalion, Le cercle de l’armonie, La nuova musica, Auser musici, Le concert d’hostel dieu, Stile galante.

She performed at the main Festivals: Unione musicale di Torino, Festival D’Ambronay, Saintes, Utrecht, Froville, Gend, Brugges, Gottingen, Bremen, Beaune, Venice, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Lisbonne, St Michel en Thierache, Innsbruck, Pietà de Turchini, Associazione Scarlatti.

She sang Ernesto in Il mondo della luna by Haydn at Opera di Montecarlo (2014), Ippolita in Elena by Cavalli for the festival d’aix en provence at Opera de Lille and Lisbonne, Clori in Gli equivoci nel sembiante by A.Scarlatti and Asteria in Bjazet by Gasparini at Opera Barga with Auser Musici, recorded by Glossa, Cesti’s Orontea and Incoronazione di Poppea in Innsbruck Festwochen, Amore in Orfeo e Euridice by Gluck at San Carlo in Napoli alongside Daniela Barcellona, Novello Giasone by Cavalli at Festival della valle d’itria, Incoronazione di Dario Vivaldi (recorded for Naive) with Ottavio Dantone in Bremen and Beaune, Poppea in Incoronazione di Poppea with la Venexiana conducted by C. Cavina inKrakow, La guerra de los gigantes by Duron at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid conducted by L. G. Alarcon, Berenice by Handel at Gottingen Handel Festival, Orfeo by Monteverdi in Bremen with L’arpeggiata alongside Rolando Villazon.

 

Among her last engagements: Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims al Rossini Opera Festival in summer 2015, Despina (Cosi’ fan tutte) at the Florence Opera House, Mercédès in Carmen conducted by Zubin Mehta at the Teatro San Carlo of Naples, Aristeo in Orfeo by Luigi Rossi with the Ensemble Pygmalion conducted by Raphaël Pichon at the Opéra National de Lorraine, and at the Opéra Royal of Versailles (Production praised by the critic as the best show in france 2016), Passio secundum Johannes by A.Scarlatti with Leonardo Garcia Alarçon ( with cd and dvd recording by ricercar), Requiem of Donizetti in Paris in Saint Denis, concert version of le nozze di Figaro at Copenhagen and Malmo summer opera festivals, and again Cherubino at Teatro san Carlo di Napoli, and for a new production in Malmo Opera, directed by P.Stein.

 

In 2017 the Opéra de Bordeaux, the Théâtre of Caen and the Opéra Royal de Versailles invited Giuseppina for the reprise of the Orfeo of Rossi in the role of Aristeo. Later on she will sing again Carmen and Traviata at the San Carlo of Naples, a monteverdian trilogy (Messaggera, Nerone,Penelope) in Schwetzingen with la venetian, and Monteverdi,s Vesperae with ensemble Pygmalion in Amsterdam, Paris, Lipsia and London (BBC Proma, Royal Albert Hall). In concert, she will held recital in Paris and Lyon, in New York Carnegie   Hall and in Nepi Stradella Festival with il Pomo d’oro, in New York again with L’arpeggiate, and in a world tour with Monteverdi Orfeo with Cappella mediterranea.

 

She already recorded with the major labels: Glossa (Bajazet, Porpora cantatas), EMI (Mysterium N.Rota), Deutsche Grammophon (CD Habanera with Elina Garanca), Bongiovanni (Novello Giasone, Cavalli), Naive (Incoronazione di Dario), Ricercar, (Passio secundum Johannes, Scarlatti), Tactus (Vivaldi cantatas), Arcana (Doriclea, Stradella)
